I Pray
How do I pray?
I pray by wandering through a garden, smelling the blooming flowers.
I pray by lying beneath the night sky, counting the stars for many hours.
I pray by contemplating the mysteries of the divine, letting my soul feel its powers.
I pray by marveling at God’s creation, from mountaintops to gentle showers.
I pray by admiring Gods greatest creation,
her mind thirsting for knowledge,
her heart yearning for love,
her senses, every one of them,
alive, awakened, and gratified by the beauty around her.
In silence, I pray. In wonder, I pray. In awe, I pray.
That is how I pray.

A Grieving Yet Brave Soul
On our earth there walks a man,
neither believer nor infidel.
He seeks truth endlessly, but cannot get close.
He seeks god perpetually, yet feels no warmth.
The problem lays not with truth nor god,
but with the man, who is ever so flawed.
Woe upon this brave yet grieving man,
Condemned to seek since time began.
inspiration Samarkand
Zealots
They know nothing, neither do they desire to know
They claim to have the truth, but their words fail to grow
If you are not of them, they call you infidel
Ignore them, for truth is something they cannot sell
inspiration Samarkand
Freedom
We are the pawns and Heaven is the player
We move around endlessly, constantly in prayer
Step into hell, if you so dare
For a taste of freedom, zealots beware
inspiration Samarkand
Prison
The cage is my prison says the thief
The country is my prison says the king
The planet is my prison says the philosopher
Oh how I envy them, for the universe is my prison
inspiration Alamut
The One
I despise the dogmatism of the devout, but I have never said that the One was two
I loathe the zeal of the pious, but I have never said that the One was two
I abhor the harshness of the preachers, but I have never said that the One was two
I am on my own confused path, but I have never said that the One was two
inspiration Samarkand
The Blasphemer
Woe to the blasphemer, they say, for he does not know
But how can they know? Their knowledge does not show
Stick to your own path, oh blasphemer
For God truly is the ever-lasting schemer
inspiration Samarkand
Lost Love
Next to your beloved, how alone you feel
Cherish those moments for they may become lost
Time has a way of blurring what’s real
Leaving you longing for what you once crossed
inspiration Samarkand
Feminine
When a woman starts thinking, she becomes dangerous
When Eve fed Adam, they become heinous
The feminine has power like no other
Her wisdom can birth or bring down a brother
inspiration Alamut
Life
Live life for thee, live life for he,
what is life if not lived for me?
To live is to see
To live is to hear
To live is to breath
To live is to fear
Live, live, and live some more
As you do not know when you’ll enter God’s door
inspiration The Courage to be Disliked
Two Souls
My life is mine, your life is yours,
You cannot live mine, nor could I live yours.
But together we can shape one life,
Like twin pillars, steadfast and bright.
Like souls entwined beyond all time,
Let’s raise our cups and taste the wine.
inspiration The Courage to be Disliked
Trinity
What’s braver than friendship, steadfast and true?
What’s greater than love, in all that we do?
What’s nobler than truth, that cuts like a knife?
Friendship, love, and truth - our compass in life.
The trinity of the human condition,
Guiding our hearts with utmost conviction.
inspiration Alamut
To Love, Unseen
Oh how I long for her, yet she does not know
Oh how my heart yearns for her, yet she does not know
Oh how my eyes fall for her, yet she does not know
Oh lord, make me forget so her I can no longer know
Love
Love lays down the seeds to sow
Love causes the flowers to grow
Love can guide a soul to the morrow
But love may also lead a soul into sorrow
inspiration The Prophet
In the Heart of God
God is in my heart, they said
Nay, nay! The thought is misled
For God cannot be by us possessed
But in God’s heart we simply rest
inspiration The Prophet
A Love Worth Suffering
To love you is my heart’s desire
To suffer with you, I’d walk through fire
Without you, life holds nothing true
Love me, suffer with me, until death takes its due
inspiration War and Peace
The Greatest Emotion
Love - the greatest emotion
Love - the highest devotion
Love - the soul’s promotion
Love - the heart’s potion
Unable to Love
A man unable to love is no man
Without love, life is but a sad caravan
If you cannot love, what use is the rising and the setting of the sun?
For in a heart that knows no tenderness, true humanity has never begun
++++
One who cannot love has missed life’s meaning
Empty hands grasp at shadows, forever gleaning
What worth have sunrises to one who cannot love?
To be without it is like losing the embrace of a divine dove
inspiration Samarkand
Sorrow and Joy
When there is tragedy, the soul is filled with darkness
When there is fortune, the soul is filled with brightness
The deeper our sorrow, the greater our weakness
The higher our joy, the stronger our greatness
inspiration The Prophet and Dostoevsky
IDK
Arise, we have eternity for sleeping
Surprise, the dead man is creeping
Agonize, the sick child is weeping
Theorize, the knowledge is sweeping
inspiration Samarkand
Speak Freely
God made me a thinker and so I think
God is great, our words cannot make Him shrink
But to mankind our words may cut like a sword
Can I speak to you freely, O Lord?
From my thoughts comes this undiluted fruit
Forgive me if my thoughts led me into disrepute
I’ve only sought to perceive You as much as I could
And I only ask that You guide me, if you would
inspiration Samarkand
Trapped in Remembrance
In my mind you dwell constantly
In my heart I hurt continuously
I wish I had never known you
But who would I be without you?
Consumed by You
You consume my soul
You seize control
You possess my being
Yet I crave this feeling
You distract my mind
Leave reason behind
You destroy me, shatter me
Still, I seek you endlessly
Regrets
So many regrets yet so little life
It hurts so much, it cuts like a knife
Oh God, I can no longer bear it
So I pass them on to You, to You I share it
Dwell on the Past
Don’t dwell on the past,
It’ll eat you up fast.
Don’t think on regrets,
Try your best to forget.
Our souls can only bear so much,
Let it go, otherwise it’ll be a crutch.
Our minds can only carry a light load,
So don’t bring too much on the road.
Don’t despair, God’s dear child,
We are of heaven, but for now exiled.
One day we’ll rejoice in God’s light,
But while we live, we must stand and fight.
